OMNY is the contactless fare payment system for public transportation in the New York region. Simply use your contactless credit or debit card, smart phone, wearable device, or an OMNY card to tap and go.
OMNY will eventually combine fare payments and ticketing across subways, buses, paratransit, and commuter rail. And yes, the MetroCard will eventually be phased out. So, let's get you tapping!
Use a smart phone (with digital wallet enabled), a wearable, or a contactless credit or debit card to pay your fare at subway turnstiles, AutoGates, and onboard buses (including Select Bus Service). Simply tap one of them on the OMNY reader.
Benefits of OMNY include:
The screen will say "GO" if the tap was successful.

Customers in the MTA’s Reduced-Fare MetroCard program can now make the switch to OMNY and get the same half fare benefit with the contactless credit/debit card or smart device of their choice. Use the digital assistant in the bottom-right of your screen and follow the prompts to switch from Reduced-Fare MetroCard to OMNY.
Before starting, you must create an OMNY account. Have your Reduced-Fare MetroCard and your credit or debit card handy. Note that you can only link and use one form of payment for Reduced-Fare with OMNY, either the contactless card itself or a smart device (with your linked card enabled in the digital wallet). The digital assistant will help you make this choice.
Additional fare options will be available during future phases of the OMNY rollout, including railroad ticketing, student fares, special programs, and more.
All subway stations, MTA buses and Roosevelt Island Tram stations have OMNY readers.
In the coming months, we plan to expand fare options across subway, bus, paratransit, and commuter rail.
OMNY cards are available at many retail locations throughout the region, and new OMNY vending machines will roll out to the subway stations soon.
